I did a search on AltaVista on "666" AND "Beast" AND "List" and the response I got was:
1,945,730 Matches found.

It is most important to remember that there is in fact a method for "numbering" certain people that was performed by the Hebrews. This method has nothing to do with numerology. It had nothing to do with counting the letters of someones name. It had nothing to do with speculation. This is the method that is referred to in scripture and it is also the method that is used to distinguish the "man whose number is 666".

I was able to compile a list in 1 day of casual research with 36 specific references, a few links with to much more extensive compilations, and one search on AltaVista resulted in almost 2 million matches

Heres my current list of "likely suspects"

1    Bill Gates
The real name of Bill Gates is William Henry Gates III. Nowadays he is known as Bill Gates (III), where "III" means the order of third (3rd.). By converting the letters of his current name to the ASCII-values and adding his (III), you get : 66+73+76+76+71+65+84+69+83+3 = 666.

2  Also : MS-DOS 6.21 = 77+83+45+68+79+83+32+54+46+50+49 = 666

3       WINDOWS 95 = 87+73+78+68+79+87+83+57+53+1 = 666
 [Note] No explanation supplied why this +1 at the end. It would make more sense if  there    was a Windows 96.  Also note that the Windows logo contains 3 rows of 6 black squares.

4 Ronald Wilson Reagan
These are three names of 6 letters each. He also bought a house whose street number was 666.

5 Computers
When we assign A=6,B=12,C=18 ... Z=156, then adding up the numbers of COMPUTER will be
18+90+78+96+126+120+30+108 = 666.

6 The Internet
Same formula backwards, Z=6,Y=12,X=18 ... A=156, then adding up the numbers of INTERNET
will be 108+78+42+132+54+78+132+42 = 666

7 J-Marie Lustiger (Lustiger is the French cardinal.)
When we assign A=6,B=12,C=18 ... Z=156, then adding up the numbers of LUSTIGER will
be 72+126+114+120+54+42+30+108 = 666.

8 Adolf Hitler
When we assign A=100,B=101,C=102 ... Z=125, then adding up the numbers of HITLER will be
107+108+119+111+104+117=666.

9 Cathode Ray Tube

Let A=1, B=2 ... Z=26. Continue with AA=27, AB=28 ... AZ=52 ... ZZ=702, AAA=703. So
every word has a unique number in this system.

Now 666 turns out to be YP. Doesn't make much sense at first sight.

But wait a minute... Y=25, and P=16, so YP could also be written as 2516. 2516 turns out to be
CRT, better known as Cathode Ray Tube, even better known as Television.
Also note that GOD=5126, the same numbers as in CRT, only now in a different order. Turning 5126 back into letters yields 5=E, 12=L, and 6=F (ELF).

Or, it could also be 5=E, 1=A, 26=Z (EAZ), as in "I am the alpha and omega" the beginning and the end.

10 Barney, the cute purple dinosaur
The Romans had no letter 'U', and used 'V' instead for printing, meaning the Roman representation
for Barney would be: CVTE PVRPLE DINOSAVR.

Extracting the Roman numerals, we get: CVte pVrpLe DInosaVr.
Adding their decimal equivalents we get : 100+5+5+50+500+1+5 = 666.

18 Barcodes

Today, virtually every product is now marked with that familiar UPC bar-code. UPC stands for
Universal Product Code. You might have noticed that every bar-code has these tiny ‘||’ lines at the
beginning, middle and end of the bar-code. These lines are called the ‘guard bars’. They do not have
a particular value, but they look exactly like the bar-code symbol of 6. So in a way every bar-code
has three sixes. One at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end.

Some Catholics will respond to the Seventh-day Adventist that the number 666 can similarly be derived from the name of Ellen Gould White, a prominent figure in the Adventist church (see the article at New Advent). The calculation is made as follows:

The letter "w" in this case, is proposed to be the equivalent of a double "v" or "u", which has a value of 5 and is therefore 10 when doubled.. However, in Latin, a single "v" was used to represent the "w", "v" and "u" sound, the double-u (w) apparently evolved many centuries later in other languages. So, it would seem the correct rendering in Latin would be ELLEN GOVLD VHITE, which does not add up to 666. Be that as it may, lets accept the calculation as stated above. Does this indicate that Ellen White is a likely candidate for the antichrist or beast described in Revelation 13?

39 Jeff Baker, political analyst, researcher, and journalist, in his excellent classic book, Cheque Mate, (p. 203) comments on the meaning and significance of 666.

"I believe that the 666 is actually a combination of three sets of sixes.  I personally lean toward the Trilateral Commission. It all depends on how you translate the Bible. The King James version says "It is a human number" but what ... does that mean? All numbers are human, since math is definitely a human invention. I think the actual translation was "it is a number of men." I'm not sure what the membership roles of the Trilateral Commission add up to, but when it gets to 666, watch out!

Can I volunteer? I think it would be neat to have the type of power that the anti-christ will supposedly have. I think I have a pretty good connection
with the number 666. I was in first grade when I was six, I've had six bicycles in my lifetime and I was in the Navy for six years. Wierd

I think it would be a good thing to wipe out the christian church. After all, they have had almost two millenium of hatred, violence and murder. It
is time that this be replaced with peace and happiness. I'd allow libraries to keep copies of the bible for historical purposes - however, it would be
filed in the fiction anthology section where it actually belongs.

Once I have collected enough methods for arriving at a number for a name/person/entity, I should be able to associate practially anyone with the number 666.
I will post that here when I have it.

It should be obvious that one cannot go chasing representatives of 666 because there are literally thousands of them and numerology can be used to prove basically anything. And I decided against tracking down pagan symbols because there are hundreds of thousands of those. I could spend forever trying to tie the right two of them together. It should be obvious to anyone that this is definitely not the right direction to be looking in. Besides, there actually IS a scriptural method where people are given numbers, suprisingly enough, not a single example above uses this method.
