Chapter Eight - Applications

I have created a few applications for web page usage. Nothing big or splashy. If you read the chapter about Artificial Psychology, I mentioned that I have a basic handle on programming, and most of that is in web page languages. This is not my forte, nevertheless I thought these were fun, and sometimes useful. And what else am I going to do with them anyway?

Flashcard Application. I created this to help me learn Hebrew, although it can be used for any language. You can select the category for cards from the drop down at the top. There are 3 cards covered. The first card has a word in the target language alphabet (in this case Hebrew), the second has the matching word in English, and the third card in Hebrew written in English.

You can drill from any pile at any time, and you can change the category at any time. As long as you use the red and green buttons to move to the next 3 cards, the counter will increment your score as you go. If you want to skip or move back and forth without changing the counter, the first two 'next' and 'back' buttons will do that for you.

I have around 200 words, and mostly example place holders in the other categories. The libraries are basic CSV files, so anyone can edit them with no programming knowledge, and only the ability to edit a CSV in a spreadsheet. If you want your own copy to work with, let me know and I will pack it up and send it right over.

The Beast Calc. I'm working on this application to prove my point that essentially any name can be mathematically calculated to 666. Showing how this person or that person is probably the beast of revelation because their name calculates to 666 is childish nonsense. Please stop. Here is a list of more than 50 examples of this nonsense. The only limit to proving any given person is the beast of Revelation is your own imagination.

It may be awhile before I am able to finish the big calculator. It is very complex, and by the time I'm done with it, there will be potentially hundreds of results for each calculation. For now, you can use a very simple calc that I found many years ago. It is very simple, only does addition of letter values in English with 3 options, but it does work. Click here.

And of course you should already be familiar with my HNV-R. The Hebrew Names Version of the bible in html. In this case, finally, I have something useful.

Global Pressures. This is the forerunner to the GROND document. While it shows a very limited number of categories, it does give you an idea of how interconnected the issues are. Another approach I came up with is a list format suitable for presentation or notes to refer to during a presentation or discussion. Also not nearly as exhaustive as the GROND document.

The menu system for Prophet Guitars has buttons that you can use to tune your guitar. I thought this was fun and useful. The sound has to be triggered first, so you must click once to 'wake them up' for some reason, and then you will get a tone as you hover over each button. They are tuned to E A D G B E, in standard 440hz tuning. Fun, useful. Ignore the drastically incomplete store front. I'm only referring the link for the tuning functionality.

Another related application is my Pitch Tracker, which will listen to your audio and display where you are at in terms of pitch accuracy. Developed as a vocals training aid, but it will work with any audio from your microphone. Pitch Tracker only registers longer notes, due to audio sampling size. If your voice is not registering, try singing longer notes.
